We are excited to finally be able to announce that we were voted Best Johns Island Restaurant and Best Brunch by the readers at Post & Courier in their 2016 Charleston’s Choice Awards! We are honored to be the top choice in two categories of this year’s awards. In its inaugural year, 21,000+ readers nominated approximately 6,000 businesses in more than 300 categories casting an astounding 200,000+ votes! On Sunday, September 25th, Fat Hen was featured along with the other winners in a special section of the paper announcing winners!
We’re in good company! Check out the rest of the winners here.
We’ve just rolled out Fat Hen’s newest reservation system! Meet Resy.
With an app available to download on the App Store (or by visiting the Reservation page on our website), our newest addition will eliminate the multiple steps it used to take to make a reservation.
Each restaurant is road tested and handpicked.
No waiting games. Two taps and the table is yours.
Take our word for it, the magic doesn’t stop there.
If you have an upcoming reservation, don’t stress! All reservations made prior to today’s switch will just be rolled over in Resy’s system.

We are always looking for ways to support our local community and this cookbook helps to do just that! The Feeding Charleston cookbook by Michael Glasgow spotlights Charleston’s cuisine featuring the backstories of 33 of Charleston’s most renowned restaurants and their acclaimed chefs.
The 264-page hardbound coffee table edition includes recipes from each featured chef and $10 of the sale of every copy benefits the Lowcountry Food Bank. The book can be purchased at Fat Hen for $45.
It doesn’t matter how many times we get acknowledged for the dining experience people have at Fat Hen, we are always flattered to be included among the best of the best in Charleston!
We have always admired Eater Charleston‘s dedication to the local food scene. A few times a year, they create a list of 38 Essential Charleston Restaurants. They define the restaurants that make the list as “the places that you think of when you think of Charleston”. Fat Hen found a place on the list last quarter and we are excited to be featured on the list again this go-round!
Summer is always a busy and exciting time for us here at Fat Hen! Recently, we were mentioned in an article from Traveler of Charleston Magazine as one of the 20 places to dine in Charleston right now. As the article mentions, this is such a hard thing to narrow down, so we are honored to have made the list! Check out the article to see their dinner recommendations!
